Travel Tips for the First Time Traveler
I remember the first time I traveled. I was so excited and wanted to plan everything from the flight schedules, to budgeting and places I wanted to see during my entire trip. It took me months to plan. I did all the research online for the best rates and the best places to stay. But there are still a lot of things that you can’t really prepare for, things happen and it is all part of the travel experience. But it won’t hurt to learn some basic travel tricks.
Here are some tips to somehow make your first travel experience EXTRA.
(1) Book Early. Airfares are most often than cheaper when they are booked months ahead. Checkout fare compare sites to find out the cheapest flights to your ideal destinations and book in advance. This makes a huge difference in your travel expense budget, trust me!
(2) ASK ! Do your research. There are plenty of ways to get information about how to plan you dream vacation. Several Travel Agencies are also online to help you get the best tour options and they can even plan your daily activities with you. Your tour packages can be as structured or as flexible as you want it to be.
(3) READ! The internet a great resource to learn more about the country you are visiting. It is always a good idea to understand their culture and traditions. This minimizes the risk of being in awkward situations.
(4) Follow departure guidelines. Your Travel Agent and/or Airline will most likely provide you with a set of recommendations when you travel, do read through these and follow them to the T.
(5) Download a travel App. These days there are hundreds if not thousands of travel apps to choose from. Ranging from booking management, navigation, currency conversion to travel guide. Find the apps that best suit your needs. I for example am a big fan of Trip Case. It helps me plan my daily itinerary and schedules, manage my bookings and receive notification on my phone if there are any changes to my flight schedules. I especially like Sygic Travel, because it maps out my itinerary and I can even share my daily travel plan with friends who are travelling with me so we can collaborate.
(6) Get familiar with the Train System. Most cities would have a reliable train system that can get you to any local destination. It is wise to get familiar with the train stops to and from your hotel. This will save you a lot of time and money versus hopping on a cab.
(7) Be a real traveler. When planning your trip, I suggest to a free up at least one day in your travel itinerary to just walk the streets and get lost in the different flavors and feels in your city of choice. As Anthony Bordain would say;"Travel is about the gorgeous feeling of teetering in the unknown."
Remember that the best travel stories are not about the pristine sheets in your hotel room. Let yourself wander and discover the pleasures of being a traveler.
